Facilitating access to local vaccination

With local partners, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield has contributed to the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by facilitating access to local vaccination through its global network of flagship shopping destinations, and engaging in a large range of initiatives to support communities.

The well-being of our teams, retailers and communities is a top priority. Following an active mobilisation to host testing centres in our destinations, and to better support vaccination campaigns, a number of our shopping centres have quickly opened vaccination sites with local authorities. The centres by their nature are ideally placed to support these efforts, and strategic locations are chosen to increase convenience and visibility in order to further encourage vaccination.

The Group has provided spaces freely within its assets from the beginning of last year to host vaccination centres, with the first being deployed at Westfield Stratford in the United Kingdom in January 2021, at Westfield Topanga in the USA in February 2021 and at the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre in Paris, France in May 2021. Vaccination centres have rapidly developed wherever possible in our assets, across our portfolio.

Certain vaccination campaigns were particularly innovative. In the Czech Republic, for instance, the government organised a lottery, raffling off prizes such as iPhones and sneakers for those vaccinated at Westfield Chodov.

Due to this major mobilisation, 1.5 million vaccinations, including 730,000 in France, have been administrated at the vaccination points at our assets. The Group continues to support the vaccination campaign, both through vaccination centres and through the pharmacies and medical centres located within its shopping centres.

In addition, in response to this crisis, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield and its employees have engaged in a number of solidarity initiatives throughout the Group to serve local communities. A selection of our assets welcomed initiatives to support the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak, partnering with local NGOs, ranging from counselling centres for female victims of violence to programs for front-line workers and those disproportionately impacted by the crisis.
