Supporting our people

At Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, we want our people to create positive and sustainable change – in our workplaces, in our communities and on a global scale.

We have a mission to empower our people. We want them to think as pioneers and own their projects with pride and passion. The dynamic career paths and learning opportunities offered to our employees must foster professional and personal growth. These are commitments we do not take lightly. Throughout the year, we put initiatives into place to create a nurturing environment that sparks inspiration, initiative and a better sense of well-being.

Taking the pulse of our people

In June 2021, with COVID-19 disrupting personal and professional lives, we gathered feedback on employee well-being, to ensure our people were ready to bounce back to work successfully. The “How are you doing?” Pulse Survey gave us a comprehensive, anonymous view of our teams’ needs.

Over 1,700 employees participated in the survey, representing 72% of our global workforce. This great participation helped shape strong and effective plans to create an even better working culture.

Once survey results had been aggregated, Country Management Teams were able to share key positive highlights with their members – from the perception of a great connection between team members, to the strong focus on empowerment and the overall support during the pandemic. Country Management Teams could also keep all employees informed about action plans for areas of improvement, such as flexibility in working arrangements and further addressing work/life balance.

Wellbeing at heart

Driving a supportive work environment is essential to the success of our business. It is imperative that our employees’ physical and mental health is given care, consideration and constant upkeep. The Group’s “Your Well-Being” framework supports a work environment that enables a healthy and sustainable performance, and encourages us all to take accountability for our well-being. It delivers a global approach to well-being and better consistency in our regional programmes, based on sharing best practices amongst countries.

In the US for example, a series of talks on well-being was organised, highlighting three aspects: Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds and Healthy Culture. Topics from menopause to suicide awareness were covered, providing valuable insight on opportunities to take care of oneself, one’s community and each other.

Last May in the UK, we were awarded two Working Families Best Practice Awards in the Best for Mothers and Best for Fathers categories. Special recognition was given to our initiatives that ensure a flexible and parent-friendly workplace for our parents.
