Creating unforgettable experiences with one-of-a-kind events

With influencer workshops, Squid Game installations and art initiatives, there was always a surprise waiting for visitors.

A head-turning installation

The darkly comic Korean drama Squid Game is the most-watched show of all time on Netflix. Visitors to Westfield Century City in Los Angeles around Halloween last year were greeted by an interactive, Squid Game installation, featuring the spooky oversized doll that appears in the show’s first episode.

Visitors could interact with a couple of Squid Game guards, and snap photos of themselves with the doll, which could move and sing, and had illuminated eyes. Complementary circular cookies, carved with different shapes from the series, were also given out.

URW partnered with Netflix to bring the experience to visitors, and allow them to get in close contact with the atmosphere of the smash-hit show.

TikTok For You House

In a move that brought digital entertainment to a physical stage, aspiring influencers and creators in the UK were treated to something very special last year. Westfield London teamed up with TikTok to bring visitors a one-of-a-kind, real-life (#IRL) experience: TikTok For You House, brought to you by Westfield.

Partnering with influencers Kyle Thomas, Poppy O’Toole, Ehiz Ufuah, Jeremy Lynch, Ben Black and others, Westfield London invited guests to learn what it takes to become a viral sensation through a range of creator workshops. Interactive rooms could also be booked for individual use, with all activities designed to help guests learn how to make, create and share their own content.

This was one of the first in a series of events and experiences hosted by Westfield at its Westfield London centre for the whole community to enjoy, ranging from fashion, comedy and recipes to sports and education.

Skating through any season

Everybody loves the ’90s. In a partnership with Freeform, a roller rink was set up in Westfield Century City in the US to promote the drama mystery TV series Cruel Summer. Crowds gathered around the 3,375 sq. foot black-and-white checked floor over the successful two-day event, which featured three DJs spinning ’90s hits from sunrise to sundown.

In France, teams at Westfield Les Quatre Temps organised Xmas Roller Fever, a free, skating-at-the-disco event for cardholders of the destination’s loyalty programme. With music from the ’70s complemented by mirrors and disco balls, guests came together to discover the joy of dancing and spinning to festive tunes.

Kobra at the World Trade Center

At the site of the World Trade Center in NYC, we partnered with Silverstein Properties to bring world-renowned street artist Kobra (@kobrastreetartist on Instagram) to spray-paint a prominent wall in our Oculus Beer Garden. The artist’s incredibly detailed, almost 3D portrayal of “Women of the World” represents strength across continents, ethnicities and cultures. Even more astonishing – he spray-painted the entire piece of art freehand!
