More than a destination: a career partner

We support the communities we are part of and aim to help our neighbours working on the first or next steps of their professional development.

URW for Jobs

For several years now, our destinations have been supporting their communities by creating spaces and opportunities for candidates to meet potential employers with highly popular URW for Jobs events. With job speed-dating, training sessions, forums and digital innovations made available for visitors, each event is designed to help job seekers reach their full potential, and find tenants and companies that are the best fit for their particular skillset and ambitions.

On October 11 we launched the 2021 edition of URW for Jobs at the Westfield Forum des Halles, offering three days of training to 20 young people, followed by a round of job speed-dating. Interview techniques will cover a range of recruiter profiles and additional training will be given to boost confidence and help candidates get out of their comfort zones.

In the US, Westfield Mission Valley partnered with the San Diego Workforce Partnership and the San Diego County Office of Education’s College and Career Readiness Department for the first Annual Retail & Hospitality Job Fair.  Retailers and employers at Westfield Mission Valley, including Target, Old Navy, Marshalls, Bed Bath & Beyond, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and others participated, helping young job seekers to polish their skills and get real-world interview exposure.

You can at Yookan

Yookan is a unique, third-place concept in France, welcoming visitors at Westfield Rosny 2. The project was created in partnership with the French public employment service, Pôle emploi. Launched in November 2021, Yookan was designed to help people seeking employment, especially young adults. Yookan enables job seekers to identify their skills and build their professional future using new technologies and virtual reality.

Three immersive spaces have been created:

  • Arena – where quizzes and an Escape Game allow individuals to explore their soft skills.
  • Display – where visitors can use virtual reality to put themselves in the shoes of different professionals and discover their careers.
  • Prolab – where recruiters are on hand to accept applications for immersion programmes within a range of top companies.

Yookan has already hosted more than 7,000 visitors and developed partnerships with about 60 companies. It is programmed to run for 18 months, in an initiative that perfectly aligns with our Better Places 2030 commitment of positively contributing to our communities by responding to their needs.
