Cosmopolitan Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier

Welcome to Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, a one-of-a-kind destination.

Great progress is underway at Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, our upcoming premier destination in Hamburg, Germany. Designed as an integrated district and central part of the HafenCity, Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier connects places to live and work with attractive cultural offers and leisure facilities, as well as innovative retail and entertainment concepts, around its state-of-the-art cruise terminal. With this sustainably designed mixed-use development, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield enhances the lively essence of contemporary Hamburg and connects forward-looking urban living concepts with Hamburg’s historic identity. The goal is to create a vibrant meeting place for local Hamburgers and tourists, alike.

Our “Better Hamburg” promise

Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier is shaping the urban space of tomorrow. Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield will use the space to demonstrates how sustainable ideas and practices can be implemented and communicated in everyday urban life. Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield’s “Better Hamburg” promise is to create a place that sets new sustainability standards.

Better spaces

The work is advancing rapidly at Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, and all stakeholders are pleased with the destination’s impressive development. Here, responsible construction takes centre stage. Holding the work plans to a high standard, requirements and recommendations for sustainable building certifications were an integral component of the design process.

Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier is the first major project to receive new DGNB certification for sustainable building sites. As one of the first 4 projects in all of Germany, the asset received the newly developed pre-certificate for sustainable building sites from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) on June 10th. This results from our commitment to the highest possible sustainability quality - even before completion. With a total area of 419,000 sqm on a 67,000 sqm site, it is also the largest and most complex project to receive this pre-certification.

First partnerships signed

Tenants have already begun showing a high degree of interest. As early as in April, URW Germany announced first ground-breaking partnerships in entertainment and convenience retail for the shopping centre.

The international children's and family attraction LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre, part of Merlin Entertainments, has announced its arrival at the destination. The ultimate indoor LEGO® playground will be set across 3,400 square metres of LEGO themed play and will be one of the largest LEGOLAND®Discovery Centres in Europe.

Kinopolis, one of Germany's best-known and most successful cinema operators, will open the city's largest cinema. The premium multiplex comprises ten cinema halls with a total of over 2,300 seats. With its state-of-the-art technology and exceptional interior design by renowned architectural office Chapman Taylor, it will set new benchmarks within the cinema industry.

Germany's second-largest food retailer REWE is installing a flagship branch with an overall concept individually adapted to the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier location on a sales area of around 3,000 square metres.

BUDNI, drugstore market leader in Hamburg, is planning a flagship store of approx. 800 m2 in Überseequartier. BUDNI will establish a unique innovative sales concept, emphasising the experiential character of shopping and illustrating the local tradition of the company in store design and structure.

We are looking forward to welcoming guests at the heart of HafenCity, with the completion of the mixed-use district Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier scheduled for completion by fall 2023!
