Be proud to “Be You at URW”

With representation in 12 countries and on two continents, we welcome employees from diverse cultures and backgrounds to build successful and inclusive teams.

Our company purpose, Reinvent Being Together, is an inclusive vision of not just our assets and business, but of our internal organisation as well. It articulates the importance of ensuring that our employee community reflects the diversity of our customers and of the communities we operate in.

At Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, our “Be You at URW” commitment to Diversity & Inclusion is built on the premise that with us, you can fully be yourself and be proud of who you are. We appreciate each employee’s uniqueness and work to provide an environment which ensures that everyone feels safe and supported enough to be the best of themselves.

Committing to our “Be You at URW” fundamentals

In March 2021, our Management Board and Executive Committee signed the “Be You at URW” Charter, demonstrating a shared commitment and accountability to increasing diversity, inclusion and equality within our Group. This charter, which includes a commitment to have 40% or more of our leadership positions occupied by women by 2025, is a concrete call to action that we will translate globally and locally into a specific and detailed roadmap for the organisation.

Walking the talk

In 2021, we hosted the first session of our “Be You at URW Conversation Series” for this year! Focused on our LGBTQIA+ community at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield and how we can be better allies, the conversation is part of an ongoing series touching on important topics of inclusion in our workplace. We fundamentally believe that these conversations are essential to challenge perceptions and bias, and help us grow individually and collectively. We are committed to continuing to foster greater awareness and authentic discussions where differences between people are seen and celebrated as valued contributions.

Developing our local networks

In 2021, with presence in all our countries, our “Be You at URW” local networks further structured their action plans and organisation – held on a voluntary basis – to advance the local activation of our global commitment. From roundtable discussions on cultural bias, ethnicity, gender equality and non-visible handicaps, to encouraging teams to speak up as LGBTQIA+ allies, there are numerous opportunities to learn and share each person’s individual experience at URW.

For International Women’s Day 2021, all local networks gathered to “chose to challenge” gender bias at work and in our business, and called on teams to take action to help forge a gender-equal world. Four hundred team members from all our regions came together to assist in the making of our #ChooseToChallenge video, to give a voice to gender issues.
