Supporting UK communities
The URW team in the UK may have been under lockdown, but that hasn’t prevented us from working in innovative ways so that we can help each other and support our communities.
Many of our team registered for the official National Health Service (NHS) volunteer programme, and many more have participated in virtual charity fundraising activities to support several causes.
We have worked with the government and the NHS on ways we can support the COVID effort through our logistics expertise; we’re providing free parking to key workers, and we donated furniture to create comfortable break areas for busy NHS employees.
In the wider community we have supported grocery deliveries for vulnerable groups, including the elderly, sick, high risk families and homeless shelters. We partnered with Age UK on a telephone service to give isolated elderly people regular social contact.
Our charity support has also helped vulnerable mums and young children receive meals they might otherwise miss out on and made sure they all received Easter eggs too.
In a serious situation, bringing a little joy to people is one sure way to brighten difficult days for everyone.
