Kindness together
Our purpose is to Reinvent Being Together, but how did we stay true to that in a year when the pandemic kept everyone apart? It certainly called for some innovative thinking from the URW team.
Or #KindnessTogether initiative was launched worldwide as an umbrella for a fantastic range of acts of solidarity, all undertaken to bring people and communities together, support the most vulnerable, and raise everyone’s spirits.
In Spain our teams used social media to raise awareness of partner retailers’ actions, support charity fundraising activities, and to arrange the delivery of goods to hospitals and people in need.
In the UK we ran our Rainbow Art challenge, the Local Heroes campaign, and turned our destinations blue to show support for the NHS; while in France we donated fruit baskets and iPads to hospitals, and helped create extra hospital bed capacity in nearby hotels.
In Slovakia, Poland and Austria we used social media to help raise funds, go live with lockdown tips, share music and exercise ideas, and even help keep children occupied while they were at home.
These are just some of the many amazing activities that kept us all together while we were apart. From big ideas to small acts of kindness, everything made a difference in 2020.
