LAX's Terminal 1 recognised as "Best Airport Concessions Transformation"

Los Angeles International Airport's recently renovated Terminal 1 was named the “Best Airport Concessions Transformation” in the prestigious 2019 Excellence in Airport Concessions awards by Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA). The award recognises the curb-to-gate redevelopment of the terminal, which includes new guest experiences featuring modern retail and dining options developed by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield.

Our legal teams in the spotlight

Our French legal team was included in the 2019 “GC Powerlist: France Teams” by The Legal 500, a leading judicial publication. The award recognises “the most high quality, innovative, and influential in-house lawyers and legal teams in business today”. The team also received two Silver Awards, one for Innovation and one for Transaction, at the French Law Summit (Sommet du Droit) in June.

URW teams take home top honours at ICSC Maxi Awards

Our US teams took home four prestigious MAXI Awards at RECon, the world’s largest retail real estate convention, hosted annually by the International Council for Shopping Centers (ICSC) in Las Vegas – including Gold Medals for our TASTE food and dining extravaganza at Westfield Century City and our inspirational Woolsey Fire relief efforts at Westfield Topanga.

URW for Jobs

As part of our URW for Jobs programme, we aim to create job opportunities in our centres for local people living in neighbouring communities. In 2019, the programme was extended to 40 of our centres. URW for Jobs initiatives have helped to train over 1,400 people who were cut off from the job market, with sessions on confidence building, recruitment processes, and customer service skills. We provided 758 jobs and training placements through the URW for Jobs programme in 2019.

URW Community Day

In 2019, we demonstrated once again the strength of our teams and our engagement to create more inclusive communities with the first global URW Community Day. All employees had the opportunity to get involved in supporting local non-profit organisations (charities, hospitals, etc.) near our shopping centres. In total, more than 2,000 employees across 12 countries donated over 12,000 hours in support of 80 initiatives, alongside partner non-profits and public organisations. Depending on the different needs of our partners, the teams helped with renovations, environmental clean-ups, or to run an activity or event.

THE Management BOARD

More about the Management Board

The Management Board is Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE’s collegial decision-making body and is overseen by the Supervisory Board. The Management Board members are collectively responsible for the Company’s management and general course of business. The Management Board’s mission consists in defining and executing the Company’s strategy, effectively structuring and staffing the Company to ensure its efficient functioning, achieving the projected financial results and communicating these results in the best manner. The Management Board currently has two members appointed for four-year mandates.

The Senior Management Team is the coordinating body for Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE and WFD Unibail-Rodamco N.V., responsible for the definition of their shared strategy and their business policy, and for providing advice on key business decisions.

Europe confirmed its robust performance throughout the year, delivering our promises to visitors and retailers. Building on Unibail-Rodamco and Westfield’s joined forces, we built a new Commercial Partnership platform to create memorable and innovative consumer brand experiences while generating a substantial revenue stream.

Onboarding the US teams to the new Group’s organisation and strategy was the highlight of 2018. With our powerful teams serving an exceptional portfolio that welcomes emblematic retailers and innovative concepts, we are fully poised to further develop our brand and our business in the US.

2018 was a historic year for the company with the run up to and the closing of the Westfield transaction on June 7. By combining Unibail-Rodamco and Westfield, we have created the world’s premier global developer and operator of flagship shopping destinations.

2018 was a year of excellent results. We closed the acquisition of Westfield, made solid progress on the integration and grew our adjusted recurring earnings per share by 7.2%, exceeding guidance. The year was also very successful in terms of asset sales: we disposed of €2 Bn of assets at an average premium of 8.9% above book value at a pace well above expectations, reflecting the quality of our portfolio.

In 2018, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield raised circa €10 bn of medium to long term debt and hybrid, at attractive conditions, securing the funding of the Westfield acquisition and of its development projects. In parallel, the integration of finance teams has been progressing well with the achievement of the first 5-year Business Plan and the first Full-Year closing of the combined Group.

THE SUPERVISORY BOARD

The Supervisory Board exercises permanent oversight and control over the Management Board and the general affairs of the Company as provided by law, its Articles of Association and its internal charters. The Supervisory Board currently has ten members appointed for a three-year mandates.
